About The Gambia

The Gambia is in West Africa and is under 6 hours flying time from the UK and, surprisingly there is no time difference, you can be by the pool or in the sea on the same day as you fly and with no jet lag! The Gambia is an English speaking former British colony and an exciting holiday destination all year round and perfect for guaranteed winter sunshine and warm seas and swimming pools.

The Gambia is located between the Tropic of Cancer and the Equator, it enjoys virtually uninterrupted sunshine and high daytime temperatures with almost no rainfall from November to June. The coast of the The Gambia experiences only small fluctuations in temperature from winter to summer however from July to October the humidity level is high as the tropical sun will be punctuated by short but spectacular rain showers.

The  heaviest rainfall is in  August and September mostly at night and has not detracted our clients enjoyment of their holiday. I would suggest a lightweight rain Mac or umbrella as it may may prove useful in these months. Between January and April the evenings and early mornings can be cooler than people expect. For those planning to travel inland away from the coast and the benefit of the sea breezes, it is important to note that temperatures during the summer can reach 42°C.
